We begin CollectSunny with Carlos V. Garcia, a painter, muralist, and designer whose work moves between bold color and quiet reflection. Born in Honduras and now based in Cayman, Carlos paints with emotion, memory, and rhythm. His signature Matrix and Tetris styles echo childhood games, structured yet free, abstract yet deeply personal. For Carlos, art is about connection.
That connection is more important than whether a piece is considered beautiful.
Now, for the first time, his originals are available as high-quality prints through CollectSunny, ready to live with you.
Carlos says his journey began early. As a child, he loved design — modifying, painting, and fixing things to make them better. That curiosity stayed with him, but it wasn’t until 2006–2007, while painting his own clothing collection, that he realized he could dedicate himself fully to art. One project led into another, and soon canvases and murals became his focus. That’s when he decided he wanted to be an artist.
His work has always been shaped by his environment. What he painted in Honduras carries a different energy than what he creates in Cayman. Each country holds its own beauty, and moving between places has given him new perspectives on how art can shift with surroundings.
Each place has its own beauty, and living in different countries shapes your art in different ways.
When people ask about his style, Carlos smiles — because it’s not easily defined. His inspirations range from Da Vinci to Velázquez, Goya to Monet and Van Gogh, then Basquiat, woven together in layered experimentation.
Among his most recognizable approaches are his Matrix and Tetris styles. The first, made of crosses and lines, reshapes reality with a meditative rhythm, distorting the familiar into something new. The second, inspired by childhood games with his brother, began with rigid blocks but has grown looser and more layered over time — “my way to pixelate life without being too explicit.”
Accessibility has always been important to him. While not everyone can purchase an original, high-quality prints allow more people to connect with the emotions and energy of the work.
Looking ahead, Carlos dreams of seeing his art in cities across the globe — Paris, Rome, Madrid, Tokyo, Singapore. He continues to experiment with mixed media, blending acrylics, spray paint, and textures to create new perceptions of the art world.
Carlos’s debut collection with CollectSunny is a celebration of both individuality and universality, offering museum-quality prints made to live with you.
For me, big things often start by believing something is good but knowing it can become even better when you connect with other people and minds. That has always been part of my journey as an artist. To collaborate, to connect, to expand.
